This I’ve Learned

Blog August 30.2021

I WAS THINKING…
how nice it is to live a few blocks from where the RAMS practice at CLU, California Lutheran University. Our neighborhood becomes alive with the commotion and sounds from the football field. I think it’s neat when they show them practicing on television because I get to point my finger and say, “Look, that’s just right over there”. I guess it doesn’t take much to entertain me these days.

SAYINGS TO REMEMBER
DREAMS DON’T WORK UNLESS YOU DO
DO YOUR BEST & DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE REST
BE A SOMEBODY WHO MAKES EVERYBODY FEEL LIKE A SOMEBODY

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
Jake was sitting in the bleachers watching the football game when he heard his friend call to him. “Hey, Jake, I didn’t know you were going to be here.  Where did you get your ticket?”.
“From my brother.”
“Well, where’s your brother?”
“He’s home looking for his ticket.”

LET’S TALK ABOUT SHOES
(Taken from Haley’ Hints)
Replace shoe strings with elastic to make putting on your shoes easier.
Use nail polish remover to rid white canvas shoes of tar or grease.
Petroleum jelly helps prevent cracking and splitting of patent leather.
Don’t buy shoes early in the day because your feet tend to be smaller until you’ve walked awhile.

FASCINATING FACTS ABOUT PAST PRESIDENTS
(Taken from the book Fascinating Facts)
The shortest president was James Madison at 5 feet, 4 inches. Lincoln was the tallest at 6 feet, 4 inches.
President Taft weighed 352 pounds.
Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and James Monroe all died on July 4th.
George Washington’s face was scarred from smallpox.

PUNCH LINES
Most people have enough money…unless they want to buy something.
A few things you can get for a dollar: nickels, dimes and quarters.
