This I’ve Learned

I WAS THINKING…
how much brighter the sun seems these days. I mentioned that to a woman, who was walking from the senior center with me, when the sun seemed to blind us. She quickly informed me that it wasn’t the sun, but as we get older our eyes are more sensitive. Daaa… Of course, the sun wouldn’t change now after billions of years. Not that I thought it did, but do I have to blame it on my age?  Aw well, what else is new.

FACTS ABOUT THE SUN
(Taken from Google)
The surface area of the sun is 11,990 times the surface area of the earth.
One could fit one million planets the size of the earth inside the sun.
It takes eight minutes for light to travel from the sun to the earth. This distance is the basis for establishing the speed of light.
Ancient civilizations believed that the sun was God.

VINEGAR GOES OUTDOORS
(Taken from The Vinegar Anniversary Book)
Sprinkle apple cider vinegar on windowsills, doors and any other opening to prevent ants from entering the house.
Before painting concrete walls and floors, brush on vinegar, let it dry. This will keep it from peeling. This also works on metal.
Remove small spots of rust from car chrome by rubbing with a piece of aluminum foil dipped in vinegar. Rinse and finish with a coat of wax to discourage new spots.

OVERHEARD
A good neighbor is one who smiles at you over the fence but doesn’t climb over.
Charm is the ability to make someone think both of you are wonderful.
It’s okay for the sun to go down because now the stars come out.
Count your blessings, not the candles on your cake.
