This I’ve Learned

BLOG DECEMBER 1, 2025

I WAS THINKING…

how especially tasty our Thanksgiving dinner was this year. My grandson’s fiancé did the cooking. She actually did research on how to make the most tender turkey. Well, she figured it out. How great that she’s not only beautiful but a good cook too.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
THOUGHTS ABOUT SILENCE
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is nothing at all.
Silence and a smile are two powerful tools. Smile is the way to solve may problems and silence is the way to avoid many problems.
Silence is the best response to a fool.
Don’t waste words on people who deserve your silence.
Be concerned of a person who is smiling and sitting in silence.

CHRISTMAS TREE SURVIVAL TONIC
(Taken from Grandma Putt’s Problem Solvers)
Pour this mixture into the Christmas tree stand to keep it fresh and green throughout the year-end holiday.
2 cups of clear corn syrup
4 tbsp. house bleach
4 vitamin tablets with iron
1 gallon of hot water.
Add mixture as soon as soon as you set up the tree. Pour the mixture into the stand. Add a fresh dose whenever the water level goes down.

FOR ARTIFICIAL CHRISTMAS TREE
Here’s a tip to help with the struggle of taking the tree apart when you’re ready to undecorate. Dip the end of each branch into petroleum jelly before you insert it into the tree trunk. The branches will slide right out when you take it down.

THIS I’VE LEARNED< It’s time for us to plan our Christmas budget. Perhaps we should include a little extra for those that are less fortunate. Our mail has many begging, people standing on the street corner, toys for tots and so many more. Let’s not let Christmas be about giving gifts, but about giving hope also. Think about it.
