I WAS THINKING…about Easter and it brought back childhood memories. We always dressed up and wore a hat to church every Sunday, but Easter was special. If we were going to get a new dress or hat it would be for Easter. Of course, with seven sisters (and three brothers) there were a lot of hand-me-downs. It was fun to spend hours thumbing through Sears Roebuck, Montgomery Ward and Spiegel Catalogs looking at all the cute dresses and hats. I miss those days when ladies were hats to church. Aw well, at least I’ll keep wearing my sun-visor.
ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
(Overheard)
At my age the only pole dancing I do is to hold on to the safety bar in the bathtub.
I used to wake up feeling like a million bucks, now it’s more like a bounced check.
I know my secrets are safe because my friends can’t remember them either.
I’m not old, just vintage.
WORDS OF WISDOM
(Taken from Life’s Little Handbook of Wisdom)
If you have to ask if something is right, it probably isn’t.
Don’t talk when yawning; don’t yarn while someone else is talking.
Understand the difference between acting young and being immature.
The five senses are incomplete without the sixth—a sense of humor.
Know when to say goodbye.
YOU KNOW YOU’RE GETTING OLD IF YOU REMEMBER THIS:
Milk delivered to your home in glass bottles.
Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water inside.
Coffee shops with table side jukeboxes.
The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team.
S&H green stamps.
EASTER EGGS = EGG SALAD
There is such a variety of receipts for egg salad, instead of choosing which one, here is a list of ingredients used.
Get creative!
Mayonnaise, garlic powder, cumin, white vinegar, mustard, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, celery, relish, diced pickles, green onion, red onion, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, minced dill, paprika, yogurt to replace mayo, chives and your imagination.
