This I’ve Leaned

 I WAS THINKING…
how communication is changing. It’s not as simple as when we were growing up. Instead of plain English, we now have the emojis, acronyms and just initials. Like we’re suppose to know what the initials mean. I searched Google for help. I found at least fifty initials that I never heard of before. Of course, we’re familiar with FYI (For your information) and TGIF (Thank goodness it’s Friday). All this time I thought LOL meant Lots of Love. Google says it means Laugh Out Loud. (See what I mean?) How much of this do we need to learn? I guess we just have to figure it out. TFRMB!

KEEP A HAPPY FACE
Laugh often, long and loud. Spend time with cheerful people and friends who make you laugh. The grouches will pull you down.
Decorate for the holidays even if you live alone.

WORDS OF WISDOM
Act as though you are where you want to be and you are already there.
If you don’t step forward, you will always be in the same place.
If you don’t ask, the answer is no.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
A conversation with a bore is like looking at an invisible man’s family album.
Conceit is a disease that makes everyone sick except the one who has it.
Flattery is telling someone exactly what they think of themselves.
An upscale neighborhood is a place where the rent is high and noses are higher.

HOLIDAY CANDLES
(Taken from Easy Does It)
Stop candles from dripping by soaking in a very salty solution for a few hours. Dry thoroughly. Another way to keep dripping wax is to refrigerate candles for several hours before lighting.
Core large apples, insert candles of different heights. Add greenery for a country center piece.
Place aluminum foil around bottom of candles to make it easy to remove and replace burned-down candles.

PUNCH LINES
To disperse a crowd, pass a hat.
To give a gift worth $25, give a $50 bill.
