This I’ve Learned

Blog July 10, 2023

I WAS THINKING…
about my recent trip to Illinois for our yearly family reunion and visiting school friends. We got to show-off our new wrinkles and share our life of woes and joy and of course, memories. Like most family reunions, lots of food and favorite recipes are essential. As always, it was a fun and special time for me, but also somewhat bittersweet. It made me realize how precious time is.

OVERHEARD ABOUT FAMILY
Family isn’t about the miles that separate you. It’s about the memories that connect you.
Families are  like branches on a tree. They grow in different directions, yet the roots remain the same.
Family is the link to our past and the bridge to our future.
Families are like fudge, mostly sweet with a lot of nuts.
All things change, but we start and end with family.

STAINS IN THE CARPET?
(Taken from Mary Ellen’s Best of Helpful Hints)
Keep spills from turning into a stain by blotting up as much moisture as possible. Scrape up any solids and blot with a clean towel. Begin at the outer age of stain and blot toward  the center. Do not rub because this will only spread the stain. And don’t apply a spot remover until you done a thorough job of blotting.
FRESH STAINS: Club soda is an instant spot remover. Pour on spot, let it set for a few seconds and sponge up thoroughly.
OLD STAINS: Combine 2 tablespoons detergent, 3 tablespoon vinegar in one quart of warm water. Work into stain and blot as dry as possible. Tide is good for stubborn spots.

THIS I’VE LEARNED
(We’re all special in our own way)
So often we compare ourselves to others or wish we looked different. We appreciate talents of many and fail to recognize our own gifts of talent. We are each unique and special. We differ from each other because we were created for different purposes.Think about it!

Aim for the sky, even if you only hit the treetop.
Yesterday is a dream. Tomorrow is a vision. Today is reality-cherish it.
