This I’ve Learned

I WAS THINKING…
about this year being Leap Year. Where did the four years go? It was once said that Leap Year Day was Sadie Hawkins Day which supposedly meant it was okay for a woman to ask a man for a date or to marry her. It was named after theLi’l Abnercomic strip character Sadie Hawkins, a 35 year old spinster. Sadie Hawkins dances became popular because the gals could ask a guy for a dance. Remember those days? Today, I just appreciate the bonus day Leap Year gives us. I can use it.

IT’S LIKE…
…having the choice of a wife who can cook but doesn’t or a wife who can’t cook but does.
…a pickpocket with cold hands.
…stepping on stairs that isn’t there.
…traveling for four days to get a picture of you standing next to your car.

BEWARE OF A 2-WAY MIRROR
Although it may be rare, it’s been noted that some public restrooms or changing rooms have a 2-way mirror where someone can see you, but you can’t see them.
Here’s how to tell: Place tip of fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a gap between your nail and the image of the nail, then it’s a genuine mirror.
However, if your fingernail directly touches the image of the nail, it is a 2-way mirror. You can remember this way: No space, leave place.

WORK MAGIC ON WINE SPILLS
(Taken from Easy Does It)
Work fast when wine is spilled on your nice tablecloth. Grab enough salt to cover the stain to soak up the liquid. Place the tablecloth in cold water for 30 minutes and wash as usual.

THIS I’VE LEARNED
Most of us don’t have everything we want. We might spend more time thinking about what we don’t have and want than appreciating what we do have. Maybe it’s a mind-set we need to think about. Would we be able to appreciate what we get, if we don’t know how to appreciate what we already have? Think about it!
