I WAS THINKING…
that summer was coming to an end, but Mother Nature isn’t ready to back down. I don’t remember the last time we had several days of temperatures over 100 like we had last week. Maybe it’s Mother Nature’s way of reminding, those of us who live in California, how lucky we are to have nice weather almost all year round. I get the message, but I have one question: Is it ever going to rain again?
ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
Put cotton in your ears and pebbles in your shoes. Pull on rubber gloves. Smear Vasoline over your glasses, and there you have it: instant old age.
REFLECTIONS ON GETTING OLD
All the talk about age is foolish. Every time you’re one year older, everyone else is too.
Age doesn’t matter unless you are cheese.
You don’t get to choose how you’re going to die. You can only decide how you’re going to live.
One good thing about being old, you are now too old to die young.
We need old friends to help us grow old and new friends to help us stay young.
Don’t think you have to give up things when you get old. You get old because you give up things.
LAUNDRY HELP
(Taken from Haley’s Hints)
Dissolve powder detergent in warm water before placing in washer. Undissolved soap may lodge in clothing, damaging the fabric.
Occasionally clean washing machine to cut through built-up soap in hoses. Pour a gallon of distilled white vinegar into washer, using warm water, run through wash and rinse cycle.
For whiter socks, soak in hot water with lemon juice or baking soda before washing.
A teaspoon of ammonia added to wash water will help keep colors from running.

THIS I’VE LEARNED
Usually, we don’t give it much thought when we do a good deed for someone. But for the recipient it may be a big deal. Some of us have never forgotten something that someone did for us as a child. Perhaps we should be more vigilant for times when we can do a good deed. We may never know when it might be a ‘big deal’ for someone. Think about it!
