This I’ve Learned

I WAS THINKING…
about my two neighbors who are competing with Christmas decorations. Actually, their homes might just be the best decorated in town. They may be competing, but I’m the winer. I almost feel guilty. They are inside and can’t really enjoy it, yet they have to pay the electric and I have a wonderful view to enjoy every night. Of course, I thanked for doing it for me.

CARE FOR YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE
Never let the water level go below the tree’s base. Aspirin, Sprite or sugar added to the water is said to help keep it fresh.
Best not to leave on lights when not at home.
When branches get brittle, it’s time to take it down.

USING CANDLES THIS CHRISTMAS?
Place candles in freezer overnight to prevent dripping and will also burn longer.
Make candle fit snugly; put hot water into candleholder, allow to heat, pour water out and sick candle in immediately.
Remove wax from cloth: scrape off as much as possible, place several paper towels on both side of fabric and iron on a low setting. Change towels often as the wax is absorbed into them.

THIS I’VE LEARNED
Christmas is a fun and happy time for so many, but it can also be a very sad time for others who have lost a loved one or who can’t be with family. Perhaps this is a time for us to be aware of anyone who may be having a tough time during the holiday and reach out to them.  Think about it!
