I WAS THINKING…
how neat it would be if every day could be like the 4th of July when politics, religion, race or anything matters because our nation stands together as one to celebrate our independence. The fireworks may fade but our freedom doesn’t.
FACTS ABOUT INDEPEDENCE DAY
(Taken from Old Farmer’s Almanac)
Handcock’s signature dwarfed the signatures of others because he wanted the King of England to see his signature without wearing his spectacles.
July 4th was not declared a federal holiday until 1938.
If July 4th falls on a Sunday, the holiday is observed on Monday. If it falls on Saturday, the observed holiday we be on Friday.
ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
(Talk about aging)
“At my age, flowers scare me.” George Burns
“Don’t let aging get down. It’s too hard to get back up.” John Wagner
“Old age comes at a bad time.” San Banducci
“Aging seems to be the only available way to live a long life.” Kitty O’Neil
“The older we get; the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.” Will Rogers
HINTS FOR A HEALTHY MOUTH
(Taken from The Country Doctor’s Secret Handbook)
Don’t brush teeth too hard. Try brushing two teeth at a time rather than long striking strokes across teeth.
To prevent wear on enamel, choose a toothbrush with soft bristles.
Make a mouthwash with ½ teaspoon baking soda, ½ teaspoon salt in cup of water.
Rinse around mouth for an effective weapon against bad breath.
Rub the teeth with the white side of a banana peel to whiten teeth.
THIS I’VE LEARNED
As we grow older, the more we need exercise. But it seems the older we get, the more we dislike exercising. Perhaps if we make it part of our daily routine, it will seem natural and soon become just part of our life. Think about it!
