This I’ve Learned

I WAS THINKING
how much I’ve been enjoying the nice weather here in California.  I feel it’s only proper that I mention it because when the weather is windy, I’m the first to complain. Actually, I doubt if there too many people who do like the wind. Well, maybe if they have a kite.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
MAXINE SAYS
Why did the person my age cross the road? When she had an hour to kill.
I’m a lot like the Grand Canyon…old and craggy, and I never go anywhere.
Mother Nature thinks of everything. She makes our hair turn gray before it falls out so we don’t miss it so much.
Aging like fine wine means spending a lot of time on your side, lying down.

HOW TO CLEAN DELICATE GLASSWARE
(Taken from Mary Ellen’s Best of Helpful Hints)
Never put a delicate glass in hot water bottom side first; it will crack from sudden expansion. Most glassware will be safe if it is slipped in edgewise.
Vinegar is a must when washing crystal. Rinse in 1 part vinegar to 3 parts warm water.  Air dry.
When one glass is stuck inside another, fill the top with cold water and dip the bottom one in hot water. They should come apart without breaking.                             A small nick in the rim of a glass can be smoothed out with an emery board.
Scratches on glassware may disappear if polished with toothpaste.

THIS I’VE LEARNED
As years come and go, we are finding more of our friends aren’t physically able to do the things we once did together. This would not be a time to forget them, but make sure we stay in touch. They will need the companionship more now than ever. Think about it!
