This I’ve Learnedd

I WAS THINKING…
about the lottery. Isn’t it hard to believe the odds are so great that sometimes no one wins?  And the amount of the prize money seems unreal. Does anyone really need that much money? Actually, I can only imagine how complicated and unsafe one’s life would suddenly become if they won. Well, I’m not taking any chances. (In more ways than one.)

SIGNS OF THE TIME
ON A MATERNITY ROOM DOOR:
 “Push! Push! Push!”
AT A CAR DEALERSHIP:
“The best way to get back on your feet – miss a car payment.”
OUTSIDE A MUFFLER SHOP:
“No appointment necessary. We hear you coming.”
IN A VETERINARIAN’S WAITING ROOM:
“Be back in 5 minutes. Sit! Stay!”

PUT EGGSHELLS TO WORK
(Taken from Easy Does It)
Clean a vase that has a tiny opening with small eggshells mixed with water and vinegar. Pour into the vase, cover and shake until clean. Rinse when done.
For healthy ferns or blooming perennials, crush eggshells into the water you plan to use to water plants. Let stand for a couple days, shake well, then water.
Sprinkle eggshells around stems of tomato plants. Cutworms won’t crawl across them.
Plant a seed in a half of an eggshell. Place in a sunny window. When seedling is ready to plant, crack the shell and put directly in the soil.

THIS I’VE LEARNED
We all want others to be kind to us. Maybe we aren’t aware of the times we are treated with kindness. This could be a smile, someone letting us go first while driving, a door being held for us or a mere thank-you. Most likely we also show kindness without thinking about it. We would probably be even kinder if we remember to make a conscience effort. Think about it.
