about Labor Day. It was the time of year I dreaded as a child because life changed after that first Monday in September. My barefooted summer days were over and nine months of school was ahead. Soon there was colder weather, but at least holidays would soon follow. And I realized I was growing older because I was in a higher grade. I know. You’ve been there-done that too. So, we can remise together. Let’s not let age rob us of our childhood memories.
FACTS ABOUT LABOR DAY
The first state to celebrate Labor Day as a legal holiday was Oregon in 1987.
Labor Day became a National Holiday by Grover Cleveland when he signed an act in 1894 establishing a federal holiday.
Labor Day weekend is considered to be the busiest travel weekend of the year.
Before Labor Day act was passed, an average work day was 12 hours long, seven days a week.
THOUGHTS ABOUT LABOR
Nothing will work unless you do.
Let the joy of what you love be what you do.
Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.
Pleasure in the job puts perfection in your work.
IT’S MURPHY’S LAW
(Taken from the book of Murphy’s Law)
If anything can go wrong, it will.
Everything takes longer than you think.
If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong.
Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse.
Whenever you set out to do something, something else must be done first.
Every solution will breed a new problem.
HINT FOR THE DAY – KEEP WINDSHIELD CLEAR
(Taken from Easy Does It)
To make a hazy windshield sparkle, wash with white vinegar, rinse with water and dry off.
If car windows get steamed up, clear with a chalkboard eraser.
