about a young teenage girl who was standing in front of me in the grocery store line. She looked so much like a lady I used to work with. I just had to ask. Sure enough, she was Stella’s granddaughter. It made me think about how much family members look alike. It even seems to continue for generations. And have you ever looked through old pictures and wasn’t sure who was who because they looked alike. Actually, one time I looked in the mirror and for a second, I thought I saw my sister. That was a good thing…she’s pretty.
ALL IN THE FAMILY
Mom logic: “If you fall out of that tree and break a leg, don’t come running to me.”
Three words that can solve all of Dad’s problems? “Ask your mother.”
Daughter: ‘Mom, what’s it like to have the greatest daughter in the world?”
Mom: “I don’t know. You’ll have to ask grandma.”
Son: “For $20, I’ll be good.”
Dad: “Oh, yeah? When I was your age, I was good for nothing.”
Sweater: Something you wear when your mom gets cold.
Overheard: I’m thankful to my brother for my good health. When we were kids, he told me I had to eat dirt so I wouldn’t get sick.
WISDOM OF THE AGES
(Taken from Over the Hill & On a Roll)
We grow neither better nor worse as we get old, but more like ourselves.
It is possible that a person could live twice as long if he didn’t spend the first half of their life acquiring habits that shorten the other half.
When you’re young you want to change the world; when you are old you to change the young.
A person is always startled the first time they hear themselves referred to as old.
