This I’ve Learned

I WAS THINKING…
how I didn’t recognize someone because she had cut off her long hair. I’m amazed how hair makes a difference in ones looks. It’s almost like we have a choice of how we look. We can color it, or not. There’s the pony tail or braids, straight or curly, long or short. And of course, the guys can hide behind a beard or sport a mustache. Bald? No problem, grab a wig or a hat. Now if I can only find a way to disguise wrinkles.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
Three sisters ages 92, 94, and 96 lived in a house together. One night the 96-year-old draws bath water. She put her foot in and pauses. She yells down the stairs, “Was I getting in or out of the tub?”
The 94-year-old yells back “I don’t know. I’ll come up and see”. She starts up the stairs and pauses. She yells, “Was I going up the stairs or down?”
The 92-year-old was sitting at the kitchen listening to her sisters. She shakes her head and said, “I sure hope I never get that forgetful.” She knocks on wood for good measure. She then yells “I’ll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who’s at the door.”

TIPS FOR THE LAUNDRY
(Taken from Easy Does It)
Make your own stain remover. Keep a spray bottle filled with equal amounts of white vinegar and water to spray on clothes right before adding to the wash.
Keep laundry bags and hampers fresh with fabric softener sheets.
It’s important to follow the directions on laundry products. Using more or less than recommended can damage your clothes or leave them dirty.

THIS I’VE LEARNED
How often we are worried about tomorrow that we waste time and energy which could be better spent on living a full life today. To quote Dalai Lama, “If it can be solved, there’s no need to worry, and if it can’t be solved, worry is of no use.” Think about it.

UPLIFTS
(Taken from Fr. Hampsch’s book Uplifts)
Happiness doesn’t consist in having much to live on, but much to live for.
You’re happy if you’re too busy to notice that you’re happy.
