THIS I LEARNED

I WAS THINKING…
about the woman who smiled at me and said hello. I didn’t know who she was, but she did look familiar. It wasn’t until I saw her walking that I recognized her. Her face no longer looked the same, but her walk did. I guess our walk never changes. Well, maybe when there’s a cane added.

QUOTES ABOUT WALKING
“Don’t look back — you’re not going that way.” –Unknown
‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” –Lao Tzu
“Home is everything you can walk to.” –Jerry Spinelli
“Walking is man’s best medicine.” –Hippocrates
“When everything feels like an uphill struggle, just think of the view from the top.” –Unknown
“Walk towards the good in life and one day you will arrive.” –Unknown
“If you’re in a bad mood, go for a walk. If still in a bad mood, go for another walk.” -Unknown
“It’s your road and yours alone. Others may walk with you, but can’t walk it for you.” –Rumi

TIPS FROM BETTY-ANNE’S HOUSEHOLD HINTS
Not sure if a new garment is colorfast? Try this test. Wet a clean white cloth or rag, wring it
out and rub over the inside seam of the garment. If the color stays set, it’s colorfast.
Always dust oil paintings with a feather duster; never rub a cloth over them.
Sharpen scissors with a steel wool pad and buff the edge. Be careful, though.

CONSUMER REPORT-A FOOD TO AVOID
(Taken from CR book: Should I Eat This?)
Carrageenan is used as a stabilizer to keep items like salad dressing from separating and give a creamy texture. But the structure of carrageenan is foreign to human cells and may cause inflammation. The additive has disappeared from organic products but still found in many nonorganic foods. Check ingredients.

THIS I’VE LEARNED
There are times when we worry because someone isn’t happy with what we said or did. We need to remember that we can’t please everyone. What’s most important it that we please ourselves. Think about it!
