is it possible that the first day of Autumm is here? I’m not really complaining because Autumn is my favorite time of year. I’m ready. And aren’t you glad we no longer hear that you’re not supposed to wear white after Labor Day.
WHY DO LEAVES CHANGE COLOR?

It’s not the chilly weather but sunlight—or rather, the lack of daylight. As the autumn days shrink, the reduced sunlight tells deciduous plants that it’s time to stop gathering energy and get ready for the dormant season—winter. The leaves contain chemicals, one called chlorophyll, which is responsible for absorbing sunlight and giving leaves their green color. The combination of reduced light, lack of nutrients and less water trigger the chlorophyll to break down causing the green to fade. Because the green was masking other color pigments, the leaves change colors.

Aspen – golden Beech – golden brown
Birch – bright yellow Popular – golden yellow
Sugar Maple – glowing yellow Sassafras – orange-yellow
Dogwood – purple-red Oaks – brown or russet
Hickory- golden bronze Maple – pinkish purple
HOUSEHOLD USES FOR SALT

Cover spilled raw eggs with salt, then wipe clean with a paper towel.
If you spill wine or fruit juice on a tablecloth, pour salt on immediately to absorb the stain.
Refresh sponges by soaking them in cold saltwater for 10 minutes.
A mixture of salt and vinegar will clean brass.
THIS I’VE LEARNED
Too often we think about troubling times from our past or we worry about the future. Of course, there is no way we can change what is over and we don’t have much control of the future. It’s best if we try not to let either one rob us of the joy we have in the present moment. Think about it!
