This I’ve Leaned

I WAS THINKING…
about the many times as a child, I would lie in the yard looking for a four-leaf clover because it is said that finding a four leaf clover would bring good luck. They weren’t easy to find, so when I did, I would keep it and press it in a book for a keepsake. I remember how peaceful it was to stretch out in the grass on a warm summer day in Illinois.
Just the other day, I noticed a patch of clover in my yard. I can’t wait to find some good luck.

ABOUT ST. PATRICK’S DAY
(I found on Google)
St. Patrick’s Day is in observance of the patron saint of Ireland who was born in 385.
He used the shamrock (a young sprig of clover) to teach pagans about the Holy Trinity. Now it’s the official flower of Ireland. The first St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the United States was in Boston in 1737.  Although corned beef and cabbage is the tradition meal, corned beef is an English dish not Irish. It’s a national holiday in both Ireland and North Ireland. More than 450 churches in the United States are named after St. Patrick.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR BOOKS
(Taken from Haley’s Hints)
Keep books away from sunlight. Heat will warp covers and excessive light will fade bindings.
If books get damp and moldy, sprinkle baby powder in between pages.
If jammed too tightly on a shelf, the binding may break from the pressure.
Store in upright position, never leaning to one side. Use bookends to hold upright.

PUNCH LINES
It’s better to be the second husband to a widow than the first.
A flea is just a bug that has gone to the dogs.
