This I’ve Learned

I WAS THINKING…
about recent images on television showing people struggling with the snow and blizzards. Not only did I feel helpless but maybe a little guilty because I was enjoying California’s warm weather.
It also triggered childhood memories when I was growing up in Illinois. Waiting for the first snow fall was in the category as waiting for Christmas or Easter. Our farm had the perfect hill for sledding. Of course, there were times of deep snow and blizzards but I didn’t know a world without it. Now I do. I’m thankful for those days, but I’m glad they are over and now only a memory.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE GETTING OLD WHEN…
a lifetime guarantee doesn’t sound so much like a good deal anymore.
you remember when you had a broad mind and a narrow waist.

KEEP A HAPPY FACE
Be brave. Even if you’re not, pretend to be. No one will know the difference.
Remember that a good example is the best sermon.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
We all know mirrors don’t lie. I’m just glad they don’t laugh.
We come from dust and from dust we shall return. That’s why I don’t dust. It might be someone I know.
We are not aging, just ripening to perfection.
Every family has a weird member. If you don’t know who it is, it’s probably you.

CHOPPING ONIONS WITHOUT TEARS
(Taken from Mary Ellen’s Best of Helpful Hints)
To shed less tears, cut the root end off last.
Refrigerate before chopping
Peel under cold running water. Or, periodically rinse hands under cold water while chopping.
