This I’ve Learned

I WAS THINKING…
how opening a jar or a prescription bottle has become a challenge. Now I understand why my 96-year-old friend, who I take shopping, never leaves the grocery store without having the clerk loosen all the jar lids on her purchase. And she insists on not having child-proof lids on her prescriptions. I personally think they should be called senior-proof.

SOMETHING TO REMEMBER
Always read all the way down to the last sentence.
Give advice only when requested or when it’s life threatening.
A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
WE’VE FINALLY REACHED THE WONDER YEARS
Wonder where my car is parked?
Wonder where I left my phone?
   Wonder where my glasses are?
   Wonder what day it is?

HACKS ON OPENING JARS
(There may one you didn’t already know)
* Add friction with rubber gloves, plastic wrap or hand towel.
* Hold jar upside-down in a bowl of hot water (not boiling) to cover lid. Rotate to distribute the heat.
Grasp lid firmly and twist to open.
* Carefully slide a butter knife between the lid and the jar, twist to break open the seal. Do it carefully so you don’t damage the jar.
* Tap jar lightly on the counter where the lid meets the jar. Or tap the top or edges with butter knife. Can hold upside down and give a gentle tap on the floor.

PUNCH LINES
