I WAS THINKING…
about the little boy who ran past me in the store screaming so loud for his mommy. He had the most frightened look on his face. I didn’t get to see him when he found his mother, but I sure hope she gave him a big hug. I know I wanted to.
WHAT FARMER’S ALMANAC SAY ABOUT APPLES
Apples contain unique combinations of phytocompounds which help combat environmental stresses such as diseases and ultraviolet radiation.
Apple will keep baked goods from drying out. Store cakes, muffins, etc. in a bag or a container with a cut apple.
Use apple cider in place of water to give baked goods a rich apple taste.
Soften hardened brown sugar: Put a piece of cut apple in a sealed bag with the brown sugar for a few hours and it will soften enough to break apart.
PERKS OF GETTING OLD
People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
Things you buy now won’t wear out.
People don’t call you after 9 pm.
You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.
You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks in the room.
BE MICROWAVE SAFE
(Taken from Country Doctor’s Kitchen Secret Handbook)
When using the microwave, it’s important to use dishes that are microwave safe.
Bisphenol is used in some food containers and can break down when it’s overheated causing it to leach out and possibly get into food.
If the direction for microwave cooking points out to let it stand for a couple minutes, this is important since the extra time lets heat be conducted all the way to the center of the food.
THIS I’VE LEARNED
We’ve heard the saying “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.” Actually, the most important person for us to please is the one we are always with… ourself. Think about it!
