This I’ve Learned

I WAS THINKING…
about how cold I was the other day when I was sitting in a meeting. I kept thinking about all the beautiful sweaters I had at home. Well, I guess it doesn’t matter how many beautiful sweaters are my closet if I don’t remember to wear one. That’s almost the same as not having them.

THEY SAY IT WITH A SIGN
Sign at entrance of nudist colony: Please Bare With Us.
Bartender sign: Thirst come, thirst served.
Blood bank sign: Donate now, don’t let us get caught with our pints down.
Sign in front of a church: We are still open between Christmas and Easter.
Sign in a cemetery: Dead End

ICE OR HEAT?
(Taken from Farmer’s Almanac book of Home Remedies)
Use cold to treat an acute injury with swelling, such as sprains, bumps, bruises and tendinitis. Cold numbs the nerves and constricts the blood vessels, reducing swelling and tissue breakdown and easing pain. A bag of frozen vegetables will work if needed.
Heat is for more chronic, long-lasting aches and pains. Nothing soothes muscle tension or arthritis like a heat pack. It opens blood vessels to improve blood supply to an area and helps stretch tight muscles.
Rather you use hot or cold, use a towel between the area to protect the skin. Use only 10 to 15 minutes. Wait 30 minutes before replying.

HELPFUL HINT OF THE WEEK
The dishwasher can be used to clean more than dishes. Think about trinkets or nick nacks collecting dust, stove grills, brushes and combs. I know someone who use the dishwasher to wash his caps. Look around and see what might be a candidate for the dishwasher.

THIS I’VE LEARNED
It’s comfortable to slump and hump our back when we aren’t even aware we are. It’s important we are more aware of the times we need to stand straight and pull our back up so it doesn’t become permanent.  Think about it!
