This I Learned

I WAS THINKING…
about my friend Gladys, whose funeral I attended this week. I was with her at a fun Red Hat Ladies luncheon just four days before she unexpectedly passed away, leaving her many friends and family in shock and grief. We will miss her. Perhaps we should use this as a jolt for us to ask ourselves if we are prepared to go to heaven. We know not when.

THINK ABOUT IT
Measure your wealth by how much you’d be worth if you lost all your money.
How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?
It’s better to accept than to deny.
Challenge your fears.
Find what makes you laugh. Laugh often.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE – (Silly humor)
“I stand corrected!” said the man in the orthopedic shoes.
I used to be addicted to soap. But I’m clean now.
What did the left eye say to the right eye? Between you and me, something smells.
I decided to sell my vacuum cleaner. All it was doing was gathering dust.
A man went bald years ago, but still carries an old comb. He just can’t part with it.

FROM MY FAVORITE BOOK
DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF by Richard Carlson, PH.D.
Chapter 69 – Be Happy Where You Are
Life keeps moving forward. Don’t wait for something better to happen. There will always be obstacles, unfinished business and debts to be paid. That’s life. There’s no better time than NOW to be happy. It’s up to YOU to make it happen. There’s no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.

LET’S TALK TOMATOES
(Taken from Easy Does It)
Drive away flies and worms from tomato plants with a little well-placed basil.
Cover the ground around new tomato plants with black trash bags to give them an extra boast. The heat from the bags will make plants stronger & fuller.
Store tomatoes with stem-side down to last longer.
Peel tomatoes quickly & smoothly by placing in boiling water for 20 to 60 second.

PUNCH LINES
The minute you take credit for your humility, you’ve lost it.
Gossips talk about others. Bores talk about themselves.
